Space Ibiza 2007 (2CD+DVD)
Musically, there are still two camps, and the shades of light and dark are demonstrated perfectly here. On CD1 you’ll find the jump-up electro of Dirty South and Eddie Thoneick, it’s the opening track, “Sorry” from Kakade – that really sets the 2007 Space agenda.
The most powerful track in the pack is Boris Dlugosch’s rabid re-make of The Migrants “I Thought That”, which brilliantly melds a plaintive rock vocal to thundering drums and some hazy, shady synth lines.
CD2 is when all the freaks come out. It’s also where you’ll find Mathew Dear taking us on an intense, emotional techno ride and Kompakt tech-trance classic “Domino by Oxia taking us up into the sky. We really should leave the final word to Ibiza itself but we couldn’t leave without letting Orde Meikle from Slam – one half of the team behind the scintillating CD closer “Azure” – to comment on the world as he sees it.
